Data week. From July 27 through August 2, Rivian posted Q2 revenue, and I put real miles on my R2 and started getting actual numbers instead of estimates. Some of those numbers will be uncomfortable for people. Here is the rundown.
Rivian posted $1.658 billion in Q2 revenue as R2 deliveries got underway—full breakdown in Rivian Posts $1.658 Billion in Q2 Revenue as R2 Deliveries Begin.
Now the one people are going to argue about. My R2 Performance returned 253 miles against a 330-mile EPA rating, which is a gap worth talking about honestly rather than explaining away. The R2 Performance Returned 253 Miles Against a 330 Mile EPA Rating.
Ran a proper 70 mph range and MPGe test to go with it, so there is real methodology behind that number. Rivian R2 MPGe and 70 MPH Range Test.
Also dug into R2 charging on 400-volt infrastructure, which matters more than people expect depending on where you charge. Rivian R2 Charging on 400 Volt.
Wrote up my first 2,500 miles with the R2 while it was all still fresh. Rivian R2 at 2,500 Miles.
Put together an R2 towing guide as well, since that question comes up constantly. Rivian R2 Towing Guide.
And the 2026.23 software update is out. Rundown here.
That is the week. Q2 is on the board, and I have finally got enough miles on the R2 to stop guessing about it. The range number is the one I expect to hear about, and I would rather put the real figure out there than round it up to something friendlier. Catch you on the next Sunday Drive.
