Hankook Expands EV Optimized iON HT Tire Lineup With New Rivian Compatible Sizes

Hankook is expanding its EV optimized iON HT tire lineup with three new sizes that work perfectly on Rivian vehicles, giving owners more efficient all season options across multiple wheel sizes.

For 22″ owners, the new 275/50R22 is a true drop in replacement for the factory size. It averages around $329 per tire, carries an 80,000 mile warranty, and earns a strong RivianTrackr Efficiency Grade of 81 out of 100.

20″ owners get two choices. The 275/60R20 comes in at about $277 per tire with the same 80,000 mile warranty and an Efficiency Grade of 80 out of 100. The slightly taller 275/65R20 is around $282 per tire, keeps the same warranty, and scores a 79 out of 100.

Hankook has already launched the iON HT for 21″ Gen 1 owners, and early feedback has been very positive.

      • I knew they had to be coming at some point, but it had me contemplating taking the single hit on downgrading to 20″ rims so I could enjoy cheaper tires lter down the line. Glad I don’t have to do that now! 🙂

  1. Excited about this. Just put Nokian winters on and I’m looking at Nokian One for summer. If efficiency is better with these, I’m in.

  2. I have these on my 24 Quad (21″) and they are outstanding. And I just ordered them from Discount Tire for my 25 Tri (22″). They were only $269 a tire.

    • Good know. But I just replaced my hated Pirelli 22″ on my R1T with Michelins. So far so good.

      • If you don’t mind me asking — whats the over/under on $2k for 4 tire replacement with Michelin?

  3. Any thoughts on the cushiest tires for 22″? The harshness and booming of the scorpions makes me hate my gen 2 R1S.

  4. How’s these Hankook tires compared with Michelin defender? I mean defenders are more expensive upfront, so I’m really curious about durability of these tires

  5. Hi everyone,
Thank you Jose. I’ve been tracking these tires and calling Hankook HQ for months waiting for them to be available. Had them installed last week (pre-paid order from America’s Tire, 1 week wait time) after almost springing for 20″ AT wheels from Rivian or going with the Pirelli 22″ all terrains. Slim pickins for non-oem 22″ all seasons that meet all my requirements (weight, EV optimized, price, etc.). I too don’t love the ride quality of the 22s. Of course these tires feel amazing being new compared to my bald OEM Scorpions, but given the specs and looks, I have high hopes. One note, is that I had to change the suspension from “Moderate” to “Soft” after having these tires installed. For whatever reason (harder rubber compound?) these hit really hard in Moderate. Once I set it to Soft, it was a huge improvement and the ride is as good as it ever has been (since that one software update). Today is the first test in the rain, but given the depth of the tread and design, should be good.

  6. PS: I seriously considered the Defenders with the 119 load rating as the best alternative (My R1S requires 116 minimum load rating so the 115 Load Defenders were a non starter). Pricing was fine and I believe those are the best all season truck/SUV tires out there, for ICE vehicles. If Michelin made an EV specific Defender, they would have a winner. The weight of the 119 Load rated Defenders is significantly higher than the OEM Scorpions and I was concerned about range impact, though likely minimal. If you compare the specs, I think Hankook has found a sweet spot. Treadwear rating is off the charts at 900. Given their experience with the ION line and the non-HT IONs being OEM on Tesla and Porsche, I think it’s a safe bet. Of course real world experience will tell.
