Rivian is finally letting owners unlock more range—if they’re willing to pay for it. Wassym Bensaid, Rivian’s SVP of Software, confirmed today that Large+ battery packs (which are really just software-locked Max packs) will get a paid upgrade option later this year. Rivian is rolling out a big update for R1 Dual-Motor owners in the 2025.06 OTA. You’ll soon be able to upgrade to Dual-Motor Performance directly from your center screen. No service center visit required, just an over-the-air software unlock. This upgrade boosts 0-60 mph to 3.4 seconds. Horsepower jumps to 665 hp, and torque increases to 829 lb-ft.
