CNBC Visits Rivian’s Design Studio to See How the Brand Shaped Its Signature Style

CNBC recently got a behind-the-scenes look inside Rivian’s Design Studio in Irvine, California, where Chief Design Officer Jeff Hammoud and his team shared how the company built one of the most recognizable EV brands on the road. From the start, Rivian has focused on design that stands out, not just for looks, but for purpose. The R1T and R1S helped establish that “electric adventure” identity, combining rugged utility with thoughtful touches that make ownership easier. Things like the gear tunnel,…

RJ Scaringe Defends Rivian’s Decision to Skip CarPlay

Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe joined The Verge’s Decoder podcast this week, and once again, the question came up that so many owners keep asking: where’s Apple CarPlay? RJ didn’t dodge it. He told guest host Joanna Stern that Rivian has no plans to support CarPlay or the new CarPlay Ultra, explaining that the company wants to deliver a “seamless digital experience” built entirely around Rivian’s own software. In his words, Rivian doesn’t want customers “jumping between two systems.” Instead, they’re focusing on…

The R2 is still set to launch in the first half of 2026. If you’ve followed the drama around EV door handles, you know this is a big deal. NHTSA has been probing Tesla’s…

Rivian Teases R2 Capability with Water Fording Clip

Rivian just dropped a clip of the R2 production-intent model charging through water at their fording test facility and honestly, I’m even more hyped than before. They didn’t give us official numbers, but I’m guessing it’ll come in under the R1T (43.1 inches) and R1S (43.0 inches). Even so, the fact that Rivian is already showing it off in action says a lot. I’ve seen a lot of the R2 teasers over the past few months, but this one hits…
