Rivian's 2026.36 update for R1 and R2 adds Gmail support for Rivian Assistant, remote Pet Comfort controls in the mobile app, and Electric Era chargers in navigation. R2 owners also get Rivian Assistant for the first time, along with Pet Cam and a programmable liftgate height.

RivianOS 2 lands with software 2026.31 and brings a completely rebuilt interface, a new vertical status bar, a redesigned Media app with Apple Music and TIDAL support, a Weather app under Connect+, and Waze style police and speed camera reports in Navigation. Gen 1 R1 owners are included, which says a lot about how Rivian is treating its earliest vehicles.

The R2 2026.24 update expands Lane Change on Command beyond freeways, adds traffic lights, stop signs, and cones to the Autonomy view, and works through a long list of audio, climate, charging, and Gear Guard fixes.

Software 2026.23 expands Lane Change on Command beyond freeways for Gen 2 R1 and adds Rivian Assistant memory, better charger search, and draft service requests for Gen 1 and Gen 2 alike.

R2 software 2026.24 brings the R2 several features R1 owners have taken for granted. Pet Comfort, Gear Guard, Launch Mode, garage door pairing, and in-vehicle WiFi hotspot all land in this build, along with a long list of fixes across charging, vehicle access, and infotainment.

Rivian has pushed the first over-the-air update to R2, the introductory release that brings the vehicle's software up to its launch feature set. The update headlines RivianOS 2.0, a reimagined operating system that unifies Navigation, Media, Energy, and quick controls, along with the Haptic Halo Wheels, Universal Hands-Free across 3.5 million miles of roads, Lane Change on Command, and Google Maps-powered navigation with built-in charging. Rivian Assistant, the Gear Guard suite, vehicle hotspot, and garage door opener are not in this release and are expected in a later OTA.

Software version 2026.15.30 is a Rivian Assistant focused hotfix for Gen 1 and Gen 2 R1T and R1S. It improves contact search and calling, text dictation, navigation route awareness, climate and calendar handling, and assistant reliability in low signal areas. It also changes assistant availability to follow your vehicle language setting instead of your region, plus a handful of profile, PIN, and driver assistance fixes.

Rivian 2026.15 introduces Rivian Assistant, the new AI-powered in-vehicle voice assistant, along with Profile PIN authentication and a handful of Autonomy+ and infotainment improvements.
