Rivian Shares Additional Details on New R1S Large+ Battery Pack

Rivian has reached out to RivianTrackr to provide an official statement and additional details regarding the new Gen 2 R1S Large+ battery pack just released on the R1 Shop.

In an official communication with RivianTrackr, Rivian had the following to say about the release of this new battery pack:

To meet the high customer demand and accelerate delivery our second-generation Dual Large vehicles, we’re software-updating the range of certain Max pack R1 vehicles to match the starting pricing and range (up to 330 miles) of our Large pack. These Dual Large+ vehicles provide all the same performance, range, and features customers expect with a Dual Large vehicle.

Additionally, RivianTrackr can now confirm the following details about the Large+ battery pack:

  • Software-locked Max pack battery
  • The Large+ battery can be charged to 100% state of charge since it does not use the full battery pack
  • Rivian “may” offer an unlock to purchase in the future but this is not confirmed at this current time

  1. Hi Jose, Do you know if the Large+ vehicles have the Silicon Carbide motor in the rear? In other words, are the Large+ vehicles identical to the Max vehicles with the only difference being that the range is software locked?
