Rivian R2 Accessories at Launch, Pricing and What to Know

Alongside the configurator going live, Rivian also rolled out the full accessory lineup for the R2, and there is a mix of expected stuff, a few pricing surprises, and one detail R1 owners are going to want to pay attention to.

The Rivian Wall Charger comes in at $800 and is NACS by default, which means R2 owners are walking into a home charging setup without needing adapters from day one. The Portable Charger sits at $400, the J1772 AC Adapter is $50 for older Level 2 hardware, and the Combo CCS1 DC Adapter runs $200 if you want flexibility at older fast charging stations.

On the interior side, the All-Weather Mats are $225 and the Cargo Cover is $200. Front Sunshade is $125 and the Screen Protector comes in at $65. Pretty standard kit, priced in line with what we have seen on the R1 side.

One detail to flag. The Cargo Crossbars are $700 and are not backwards compatible with R1. So if you already have crossbars for an R1T or R1S, you will not be able to move them over to an R2. Worth knowing if you have a multi-Rivian household and roof gear you depend on.

The Compact Spare Tire at $755 rounds out the list and is also available as an add-on inside the configurator itself.

Nothing here is wildly out of line, and the charging accessories in particular feel reasonably priced. The crossbar incompatibility is the one item to keep an eye on as more R2 details come out, since it might hint at where the R1 and R2 accessory ecosystems will and will not overlap going forward.

  1. Those chargers seem a bit on the high side. I guess I’m only comparing to Tesla accessories at the moment, but they seem a bit higher than other brand chargers I’ve seen as well. Do they have reverse charging capabilities, or anything additional that sets them apart from other chargers?

  2. I agree that the Rivian Wall charger is overpriced. I am glad the compact spare is available from the start. I’d like to see comments on whether R1 owners have found the screen protectors worthwhile. Do they dim the screen? Do they actually cut down on glare? Overall the configurator looks good to me!

    • I have a set of the Abstract Ocean on my R1T and the main reason for them is fingerprints drive me crazy. Otherwise, there’s no other benefit in my opinion.

      • The screen protectors are good. But don’t get matte. Instead of the sun bothering you in one small section, the matte spreads that bother to almost the entire screen. X_X

  3. Dick move to charge for colors other than the launch green. Early adapters are not getting the best car, at least let us get the color we want for free.

    • Launch Green is $2,000, which was a disappointment given it was a free option on the R1 launch edition. The only color without an upcharge is silver.

  4. They are crazy to be charging $800 for a NACS charger. The Tesla one is half the price and smaller. It also is Tom’s top rated charger on state of charge YouTube.
