Rivian Issues Recall for R1S and R1T After Service Related Suspension Risk

Rivian has issued a new recall that affects a limited number of R1 vehicles, and it is one owners should be aware of, especially if their vehicle has been in for service before spring 2025.

Rivian is recalling certain 2022 to 2025 R1S and R1T vehicles after discovering that a rear suspension component may have been reassembled incorrectly during prior service work. Specifically, the rear toe link joint could separate, which increases the risk of a crash.

According to the NHTSA, the issue only applies to vehicles that had service performed before March 10, 2025. In total, about 19,641 vehicles are potentially affected.

To fix the issue, Rivian will replace the rear toe link bolts at no cost to owners. Owner notification letters are expected to start going out on February 24, 2026. Starting that same day, affected VINs will also be searchable directly on NHTSA.gov.

As always, if you have had suspension or rear-end service done in the past, it is worth checking your VIN once the lookup tool goes live.
