Pirelli Launches Scorpion XTM AT Tires for Rivian and Other EVs

Pirelli just dropped a new all-terrain tire called the Scorpion XTM AT, and it’s built for both gas and electric trucks and SUVs—including Rivians.

There are two versions: the standard Scorpion XTM AT for traditional vehicles, and the Scorpion XTM AT Elect for EVs and plug-in hybrids. The Elect version is tuned for efficiency with super low rolling resistance, which Pirelli says can give up to 5% more range compared to the non-Elect version.

Both versions are 3PMSF-rated (three-peak mountain snowflake), meaning they’re snow-ready. And yes—Pirelli confirmed they offer sizes that fit Rivian’s 20” and 22” wheels, so this could be a solid upgrade option for owners looking to balance all-terrain grip with road efficiency.

At launch, there are 21 total sizes: 10 standard and 11 Elect, with wheel sizes ranging from 17” to 22” depending on the version. The Elect isn’t any quieter than the standard version and gives up a bit of mud performance to boost range—but that’s the expected EV trade-off.

They also come with a 55,000-mile limited warranty, so they’re clearly meant to go the distance on North American roads.

I’m seriously considering picking up a set to test on a Rivian—if there’s interest, I’ll do a full hands-on review soon.

  1. After our experience with the OE Pirelli Scorpion AT tires, I’d be much more interested in a 55k non-howl warranty than a tread wear warranty.

15K miles on ours and I’m probably going to replace them soon just b/c of the noise they make. Honestly, I’d have a hard time buying Pirelli AT tires again after this experience.

  2. I’m still wondering why you don’t just go with the Goodyear Territory which are the included on DM Standard’s. They seem like a real sweet spot for Rivian’s. 3 Peak rated, quiet. If these are still loud like I keep hearing the OE ones are then I don’t see a real reason to get

  3. The Toyo open country a/t III ev have been really good to me. 7k miles so far and getting way better efficiency than the stock pirelli a/t, all while being a better and more aggressive off-road tire, and I’m running the LT, would love to see how much better the non LT would be in efficiency. So far avg 2.58

  4. So, in the world of Rivian OME tire offerings. How do these compare to the existing 275/65R20 116H SL Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tires as part of the Rivian All-Terrain OMEM option? aka less or more aggressive tread / off-road performance? Better or worse range? etc…
