Photos – A Closer Look at the R2 in NYC’s Meatpacking District

A friend of RivianTrackr stopped by Rivian’s Meatpacking District Space in NYC and snapped some great photos of the R2 on display, and we’ve got a few interesting details to share.

While this R2 might look like a new variant thanks to its darker silver finish, we’ve confirmed it’s the same original prototype shown earlier this year, now wrapped in a new color. You can tell by peeking at the door jams, which still show the original white paint underneath.

Rivian has previously mentioned that this particular prototype uses a number of 3D-printed components, and that includes the relocated NACS charge port. Instead of redesigning the whole panel, Rivian 3D-printed a new rear driver-side part to fit the port where it’ll better align with Tesla’s Supercharger layout.

Check out the photos below for a closer look.
