What’s Coming In Rivian Update 2025.18

The 2025.18 update is now rolling out internally to Rivian employees. Based on past rollouts, we can expect to see it reach customer vehicles within the next two weeks—and it’s a solid one.

Multi-factor Drive is finally here. This adds an extra layer of security by requiring app-based authentication before you can drive. It works with your phone or smartwatch and even offers a backup passcode. You’ll need the latest Rivian app (v3.1+) to enable it.

The Energy app just got a big upgrade. You’ll now get real-time energy insights while driving or parked, a visual charging graph, usage breakdowns, and the ability to precondition the battery on-demand for faster DC fast charging.

Charging is also getting faster. Gen 1 sees improved Max pack performance, while Gen 2 gets charging optimizations across all battery sizes—with Large packs seeing more range added in the first 15 minutes.

Other updates:

  • Smoother infotainment and media app performance
  • Updated vehicle visuals on the driver display
  • Smarter Gear Guard handling (Gen 2 only)
  • Improved low-voltage battery health (Gen 2 only)
