Video – RJ Talks Rivian’s Future in Autonomy

Rivian just dropped a new video. RJ Scaringe and James Philbin break down their new highway assist feature, rolling out this week with the 2025.06 update for Gen 2 Rivians.

The short version? Hands-free highway driving is here, but this is just the start. Rivian built their system in-house with some seriously advanced AI, and they’re planning to keep adding features over time. Basically, they’re setting up for way more autonomy down the road instead of just a one-and-done feature.

If you’ve been wondering how Rivian’s self-driving game stacks up, this video gives some insight. Check it out and let me know—does this get you hyped for the future, or are you waiting to see how it actually performs?

  1. Is there any hope they add or improve the driver assist in gen1 vehicles? I feel like betrayed more than teslas constant FSD around corner. Gen1 r1t is newer than a lot teslas that have a lot more auto steer and other self drive capabilities on older tech.
