Video – Rivian Software 2025.34 Review

Rivian’s 2025.34 update is here and I had the chance to dive into it early. The big highlights include Smart Charging Schedule Recommendation, which can save you 20% or more by automatically charging at off-peak hours, plus new custom audio profiles and refinements to the equalizer. Gen 2 owners get even more with Enhanced Highway Assist and the new Co-Steer feature, letting you gently adjust lane position without disengaging the system, along with broader availability and improved lane centering. Across both generations you’ll see smoother performance, better navigation stability, more accurate range estimates, and plenty of bug fixes.
Does it fix premium sound?
That’s a lot of steps to change your EQ based on what you are listening to.
I will tell you what it doesn’t have in a second… Jose proceeds to never tell us, maybe it is in the blank black portion of the video in the middle…
That’s exactly what was there lol
Spoiler, it is Digital Key
Does it come with Apple Car Key as promised?
As Gen1 owner – very lame update.
How many things were promised this year… Live weather, improve self driving, text messaging, improved voice assistant, digital key…
But thank goodness, got electric charging scheduling… let me share share a little secret with you… It’s always the freaking cheapest from 11 PM to 5 AM.
Love my Rivian, but getting tired of the empty promises.
Mine is cheapest from midnight to 8. But I agree that for anyone who has ever done about fifteen seconds of research on their utility company’s website this seems like a useless benefit.
Couldn’t have said it better.
In solidarity my Gen 1 homie.
As an Gen1 R1T Launch Edition owner, I agree that it seems Rivian is intentionally not rolling out certain updates and added features in an attempt to convince/force us to trade-up to Gen2. As a previous Tesla owner, one thing they did very well was NOT to forget or bypass updates to older generation vehicles, even offering upgrade options at reasonable cost for new Gen CPU’s, display units and even cameras to enable FSD. I purchased FSD, but they had to swap out my CPU 2.5 for a 3.0 and didn’t charge for it. I wish Rivian would put more effort into supporting the vehicles/owners that supported them as the first rolled out.
We really need to add pressure. so much was promised to us lol.
as much as I like the Halloween stuff I dont need it, focus your time on a messaging app, etc.
This is the reason I will never buy another Rivian. Too many empty promises, I just don’t trust them.
Agreed the pressure to buy Gen2 just for tech. For a company focused on sustainability, buying a new vehicle just to get new electronics features just isn’t sustainable. Sell the upgraded components/services like Tesla did. Gen 1 still waiting on Launch Mode, Text Messaging, Live Weather, etc. I’m a huge fan of the company but also see this as an area of improvement for them.
No premium sound fix unless an update comes with new speakers. Their interns are still just tweaking the master EQ. Lows are not low enough, highs are still muddy.
My apple watch frowned at the update as well
The update has made the low end worse not better. They just went backwards in that area. There’s no punch and the sub way too low.
Agreed, I actually did a measurement before and after with a spectrum analyzer phone app and saw the bass frequencies drop about 8dB using the same settings at volume level 10. That’s a very significant drop.
I agree with the comments above regarding the charging scheduling’s worthlessness. I’m still waiting on the Cruise control Resume feature.
