Hey, I grew up in California.
On the West Coast we say “guys” – it’s a gender neutral term. I don’t think he meant any offense.
My director just used the term “hey guys” to a mixed team of men and women just an hour ago – she’s a Californian gal who grew up right here in Palo Alto.
