Rivian is officially a licensed dealer in Washington state now, and the company shared a recap today of the party its team had in Seattle to celebrate it back on September 15.
This wasn’t a quick win either. Rivian went from offering educational drives in Seattle because it couldn’t legally do real test drives, to pledging millions toward a ballot initiative, before lawmakers finally passed SB 6354 earlier this year. You could tell from the event photos that the team was pretty pumped about it, they even had a band playing out of the back of an R1T.
What it means for you if you live in Washington is that Rivian plans to grow its presence there and make buying a lot smoother, and with how many Rivians I personally saw when I visited the Seattle area that’s a big deal for a lot of people.
It also comes at a good time since plenty of Washington folks are still waiting on their R2 order invites.

We picked up our R2 from their Boeing Field service center a few weeks ago. They were still issuing the temporary Illinois tags which, comically, don’t do well on the new rear window. Glad to hear they’re now a legitimate dealer in the state!
