Rivian Shares Which Dual-Motor Models Are Eligible for the $5,000 Performance Upgrade

Rivian has shared more details on its latest Performance Upgrade for Dual-Motor owners, available as a simple software upgrade for $5,000. If you own a Dual Standard+, Dual Large, Dual Large+, or Dual Max Rivian, you can purchase this upgrade 60 days after delivery, unlocking extra power, faster acceleration, and three new drive modes—Rally, Sport, and Soft Sand.

However, it’s important to note that the Dual Standard model is not eligible for this upgrade. While Rivian didn’t specifically call out the Dual Large+, it should also be eligible since it’s essentially a software-locked Max pack.

The Performance Upgrade can only be purchased through the Rivian mobile app—it’s not available in the vehicle itself. No need for a service visit or hardware changes—just an over-the-air update that instantly boosts your vehicle’s performance. Rivian Rewards can also be used to help cover the cost.

To get started, check out the Upgrades section in the Rivian app. Just make sure your vehicle is running software version 2025.06 or later to download it.
