Update: Rivian has reached out to confirm that the drawer IS NOT compatible with Gen 1 vehicles. No reason was given as to why not.
Rivian just quietly dropped a new accessory in the Gear Shop—the Storage Drawer. This little add-on replaces the Camp Speaker that normally sits below the center console, turning that space into a small but useful storage compartment.
The Storage Drawer is compatible with Gen 2 R1 vehicles only. It’s another reminder that Rivian is making subtle design tweaks with each generation, and some accessories just aren’t backward-compatible.
As for the price? The Storage Drawer will set you back $80, which isn’t too bad considering how overpriced some OEM accessories can be. But if you were hoping to grab one today, you’re out of luck—it’s already sold out. No surprise there. A functional and reasonably priced Rivian add-on? Of course, it disappeared instantly.
Hopefully, Rivian will restock soon.
Just picked up an R1S without the speaker. It came with a drawer so not necessary for after market purchase.
What does that last paragraph mean about gen 1 hoping for a version that fits?

I got one of these a few months ago. It is not OEM, but it is lockable (as a drawer in the infotainment system), $30 cheaper and available to order right now.
