Rivian R2 Shows Up at Rivian Space With Deliveries Days Away

So Drew over on X sent us photos of an R2 parked out in the open at the Pittsburgh Rivian Space.

We’ve been watching truckloads of R2s move across the country the last little while, and the Pittsburgh Space is where this one ended up. Rivian’s been dropping demo units at Spaces and Service Centers to get ready for the demo drives that start June 9th. So if you’ve been wanting to actually sit in one before you lock your config, that’s the day to keep in mind.

The VIN is what got my attention. This one ends in 581. I’ve been figuring for a while now that there are well over 1,000 R2s already built and configured out there, and a number that high showing up on a demo car lines up with that pretty cleanly.

And then there’s the calendar. It’s June 1st, which means R2 deliveries officially start this month. After all the coverage and the months we spent going back and forth on configs, it’s a little strange to be at the point where these things actually start showing up in people’s driveways.

No word yet on who gets the first ones or where they go out first. But June being here makes it feel a lot closer than it did a week ago.
