Rivian R2 Ordering Opens June 9th With Performance Launch Edition at $57,990

R2 ordering opens June 9. Performance Launch Edition only for now, $57,990, with deliveries showing up 2 to 6 weeks after your order is confirmed.
Same playbook Rivian used with R1, opening the books on the priciest version first. You get dual-motor AWD, 656 hp, 609 lb-ft, 3.6 to 60, semi-active suspension no other trim can have, 21 inch wheels, around 330 miles of range. The Launch Package piles on lifetime Autonomy+, the tow setup, a Launch Green key fob, and Launch Green paint that’s exclusive to this run. Roughly $3,700 in stuff before you get anywhere near the performance side of it.
Invites go out in batches starting June 9. Your reservation timestamp and where you live carry most of the weight. Living near a Rivian Service or Demo Center probably means you hear sooner, since that’s where the early ramp is concentrated. R1 owners get pulled forward too, though not so aggressively that non owners end up frozen out.

There’s a lease expiration field in your Rivian Account now if yours is running out. Rivian leases are already in the system so nothing to do there. And they’re seeding some random reservation holders into the first batches to firm up timing estimates, which I appreciate way more than the usual radio silence.
Premium trim comes late 2026. Standard in 2027. Demo drives start June 9 too at Rivian Spaces, open to anyone, though invited holders get first crack at slots.
Anyway. Two years of teasers and the R2 is finally a thing you can actually buy, even if the version going live isn’t the one most people have been holding out for. Configurator walkthrough and real pricing breakdown coming once I’ve built one out myself.

Do we know if ordering will open for everyone, just R1 owners, or just a specific number of people (ex: the first 5,000 or 10,000 on the list)?
R1T owner since 2024. Owned a 22 quad, 25 DMP, and now a 25 Tri. Id be lying if I wasnt hoping my early 2026 reservation isnt greatly accelerated due to being an R1 owner for a few years. We shall see on the 9th. Hopes, not so up! LMAO
Now we just need to know what the lease/finance options will be!
Thank you for the article. ~68,000 R2 Reservations for the R2 on 3.7.24. Rivian is producing ~20,000 R2’s in 2026. It looks like approximately 29% of day one reservationists will receive an R2 in 2026 if they want one. Then there are the caveats that you mention. I’m a 3.8.2024 reservation holder and looking forward to getting an R2 in probably mid-2027.
I don’t think the R2 launch is going to be considered a success 1 financial quarter from now.
I suspect Rivian will cycle thru all reservation holders in less than 2 months unless Rivian offers a blockbuster deal like 0% APR or super lease deal.
Do we know if the lifetime Connect+ goes with the car if the car is sold?
