Rivian Partners With ALLDATA to Expand Repair Access Nationwide

Rivian has partnered with ALLDATA to make its official repair and diagnostic information available to independent repair shops nationwide. ALLDATA becomes the first third party provider to offer Rivian’s OEM service data, giving technicians access to the same repair procedures, maintenance info, and diagnostics used by Rivian service centers.

For owners, this is a meaningful step forward. Rivian’s service network continues to expand, but opening factory repair data to independent shops helps reduce wait times and gives more locations the ability to properly service Rivian vehicles, especially for collision and mechanical repairs.

It’s a small announcement with big long term impact. As more Rivian’s hit the road and R2 approaches, expanding qualified repair access is key to making ownership easier and more scalable.

  1. This is great news! I’d love them for to have a section in their app like Tesla does so owners can order parts, and even independent body shops could do the same too. I backed into my garbage can in my driveway and put a big dent in the tailgate and cracked the lightbar. The official Rivian authorized body shops charge outrageous prices because they know they can. I refuse to pay their crazy prices, and I sourced a new lightbar on eBay from a crashed R1, and now I’ve working with some PDR people that think they can fix it. It’s totally my fault, so I’m paying it out of my pocket. Swapping the lightbar was easy, but I’ll eventually take the tailgate off myself and strip it down, and drop it off for PDR repair.

  2. Finally!!!!! Thank you Rivian for finally opening access to this!!!

Alldata has reasonable rates for consumer access to repair information.

Rivian has been falling far, far behind offering service information on their vehicles to independent shops and consumers.

For the company to grow, this was an essential check box to finish.

  3. This some amazing great news. I have been saying they need to allow independent mechanics to work on their vehicles for years. For once Rivian has done the right thing. I suspect they did this because they want to sell these vehicles overseas but no service network overseas and not enough it the US.

  4. Does this mean if I have aldata I will be able to reset my vehicle after switching out a 12v this is the most ridiculous thing to have to wait a month to get it serviced for

  5. Am I trusting a 3rd party shop with my $100k vehicle? Probably not. It’s fine for collision repair related to body damage and maybe minor maintenance but that’s it. Maybe in 5 years when shops across the country actually have experience servicing a Rivian.
