Rivian Outshines Tesla, BMW, and Porsche in Consumer Reports’ Satisfaction Survey

For the second year in a row, Rivian has snagged the top spot in Consumer Reports’ owner satisfaction survey. This means Rivian owners are not only loving their trucks and SUVs but are also willing to buy them all over again. That’s some high praise, especially when you’re outshining brands like BMW, Tesla, Porsche, Lexus, and Genesis, which also landed in the Top 10.

Why Rivian Owners Are So Happy

Let’s break it down. Rivian scored 86% on the “would buy again” question—better than any other brand. Here’s what owners are raving about:

  • Comfort: Whether it’s how the seats feel, how quiet the cabin is, or how smooth the ride is, Rivian nailed it across the board.
  • Ease of Use: Everything from the climate controls to the gear selector and infotainment system is super intuitive, which made Rivian the top pick in this category. (Fun fact: Rivian’s joint venture partner, Volkswagen, ranked dead last here—so there’s room for Rivian to share some pointers!)
  • Ownership Costs: Owning a Rivian turns out to be pretty affordable compared to others, with owners reporting satisfaction with fuel (or electricity), insurance, maintenance, and repair costs.

How’s the Driving Experience?

Rivian ranked 4th in driving satisfaction, trailing just behind Porsche, Tesla, and BMW. That’s not too shabby when you consider those brands are known for their focus on performance. Rivian seems to strike a nice balance of capability, performance, and comfort that works for most owners.

How Consumer Reports Gathers the Data

This isn’t just some small sample size. Consumer Reports collected data from over 300,000 vehicles, focusing on models from 2022 to 2024 (and a few 2025s). Owners were asked if they’d “definitely buy again” considering price, performance, reliability, comfort, and fun factor. Specific scores for things like comfort and usability came from how many people said they were “very satisfied” in those areas.

Why It Matters

Rivian’s back-to-back wins in Consumer Reports’ satisfaction survey show it’s not just about making cool trucks and SUVs—it’s about creating a total ownership experience people love. If you’re on the fence about getting an EV, this might be another reason to give Rivian a serious look.

  1. All these reviews really don’t address the fact that these vehicles haven’t been test in really extreme temperatures. I’m now a 5 year pre-order holder and it looks like it will be closer to 2027 before I will ever be able to take delivery. I’m in Central Canada ( Manitoba ), and too far from any service center. I would say that Manitoba will be the ultimate test for this vehicles durability. We get -40C temps in winter, and close to +40C in summer
