Rivian is rolling out 2026.31 to the R1T and R1S, bringing RivianOS 2.0 and the full interface redesign to the R1 lineup. Both Gen 1 and Gen 2 get it, which puts the R1 in parity with the R2 that has run this software for about a month.
The big changes are a new left side dock, a redesigned music and climate interface, a new weather app, Waze integration with police and speed camera alerts, and a negative state of charge readout. There are no autonomy updates in this one. It is visual and performance only, and after a week with it the whole system is clearly faster than what it replaces.
I break down every screen and feature in the video above, plus my honest take on whether Rivian can hold that performance as future updates land.
The update rolls out starting today over the coming weeks, with Connect+ subscribers getting priority.

Why the actual hell can I still not queue in Apple Music
Will the Waze notifications still work if the GPS is not set to a destination, but there is a speed trap on your current road?
The elevation needs to be shown along with the direction, compass reading, odo and trip odos, etc. on a widget on the left side of the driver’s screen. Please pass this along to the Rivian software team.

Anyone notice the RIDE menu to get into the backend settings is no longer done by enabling service mode, then tapping the top bar? I tried a couple of different things and nothing seems to enable that hidden option anymore. Anyone else figure it out in OS 2.0?
While having the weather app is nice to have, the only way to view the exterior temperature to the vehicle seems to be by opening the weather app. The temperature displayed on the lefthand menu is the temp for the location that you are nearest. How do you have it display the current exterior temp without opening the weather app?
