Rivian Launches Mind Robotics to Bring AI and Robotics to the Real World

Rivian’s been branching out in some unexpected but exciting directions lately, and its latest move continues that trend. In their Q3 shareholder letter, Rivian revealed the launch of a brand-new company called Mind Robotics, a venture dedicated to pushing forward industrial AI and robotics.

Mind Robotics already secured around $110 million in seed funding and will focus on using artificial intelligence to improve how physical-world industries operate. What’s especially interesting is how Rivian plans to leverage its own operational data as the foundation for what they call a “robotics data flywheel.” Essentially, the same systems that help Rivian build and manage its vehicles could end up powering the next generation of AI-driven automation tools.

The idea is that AI-enabled robotics can tackle a range of industrial applications, reshaping logistics, manufacturing, and operations efficiency. This isn’t Rivian stepping away from vehicles—it’s them applying their deep experience in real-world systems and data to new frontiers.

It’s also worth noting that Mind Robotics joins ALSO, another Rivian-founded company launched earlier this year focused on micromobility and electric bikes. Together, these spinouts show Rivian is thinking far beyond trucks and SUVs, they’re building an ecosystem of tech and innovation that reaches into transportation, AI, and robotics.

It’s early days for Mind Robotics, but with strong backing and Rivian’s data-driven foundation, this could become one of the most fascinating parts of the company’s broader strategy to redefine what “mobility” really means.
