Rivian Confirms “Well Over 100,000 R2 Pre-Orders” To Date

Rivian VP of Manufacturing Tim Fallon shared some new information today at the Rivian 3rd Annual Family & Friends Day in Normal, IL.

“We’re well over a 100,000 pre-orders for R2, and those continue to climb — and they really climb organically,” Fallon said. “As we really push R1 and R1 Gen 2 and continue to get our current product out there, the R2 continues to increase in pre-orders.”

We do not know exactly when Rivian reached 100,000 pre-orders and pre-orders do not directly translate to sales as the $100 pre-order is fully refundable. At this point, we only know that the number is well over 100,000.

In March, CEO RJ Scaringe shared that it had over 68,000 within 24 hours of R2 reservations going live. Besides that information and today’s information from Fallon, Rivian has remained quiet on reservation numbers.
