Rivian’s second Autonomy & AI Day will stream live on Rivian.com at 10 a.m. PT on December 9, and you can sign up for a reminder on Rivian’s event page now.
RJ Scaringe leads the lineup, joined by Chief Software Officer Wassym Bensaid, SVP of Autonomy & AI James Philbin and SVP of Electrical Hardware Vidya Rajagopalan. Seeing Vidya on the list makes me think we’ll get some hardware news, which would help clear up the open questions around LiDAR and RAP1 on R2.
Rivian is splitting the day into keynote sessions on its autonomy and AI plans, product demos across its software suite and a look at upcoming partnerships. The event page also promises a first look at Rivian’s 2027 roadmap.
I’m most curious about the partnership part, since RJ already said future Rivians will run AI agents from companies like Anthropic and pointed to this event for the details.
I fully expect a full demo of Point to Point on stage and on the road. It’s Rivian’s answer to Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (Supervised). You enter an address and your Rivian drives the route through city streets and highway interchanges while you supervise. The Autonomy Early Access Program starts putting it in the hands of select Gen 2 R1 and R2 owners in California and Florida this December, but those testers are under an NDA, so the livestream will be the best look most of us get before the broad rollout in 2027.
Most of what Rivian showed at last year’s event has made it into our vehicles since, so if you’re on Autonomy+ you’ll want to tune in. I’ll be there in person and bringing you all content directly from Palo Alto as soon as Rivian takes the stage.

I wonder if partnerships includes demos from mind robotics and Also micro-mobility. I just want that new RAD department of theirs to convert their awd long range delivery vans into adventure vans.
