Rivian Adventure Network Expansion, Pricing, and NACS Rollout Video Interview with Sara Eslinger

Rivian’s Adventure Network is growing faster than ever, now with 124 sites across the country and 72 percent open to all EVs. To get the inside scoop, I sat down with Sara Eslinger, Rivian’s Director of the Adventure Network, for a new episode of RivianTrackr Hangouts.

We covered everything from the network’s 2025 expansion plans to the transition from RAN v1.0 to v1.5, and how Rivian is preparing to make all locations accessible to non-Rivian EVs. Sara also shared insights on how pricing is determined and why Rivian can build sites so quickly compared to other networks.

We also discussed Rivian Outposts, how locations are chosen, and the ongoing rollout of NACS. starting with Joshua Tree, and what it means for Rivian owners and other EV drivers alike.

Check out the full conversation below and let me know in the comments what you’d like to see in the future of the Adventure Network.

  1. It’s been nice using the Rivian network on a tour around the Colorado mountains, making use of my free 6 months of RAN. Sufficient to not need another network for the trip. Was surprised to pull up to the charger today in Durango…and there’s an REI right there! (And a disabled charging spot…great to see that, even if I don’t need it.). Bought a pack that I’d been meaning to for a while. It would be nice if there were a connection to the riverside pathway that’s a hundred meters away… would be kinda scary getting there with the traffic.

  2. I still have a few questions:

Where is Rivian going with the waypoint charging network? Is it still a priority or has the focus shifted to fast charging. It’s really nice to go to a remote place for hiking, biking, or paddling and have your EV charge while you are away.

So far Rivian has not been able to install a charger of any kind in West Virginia. Are they aware that the state is a charging desert? How can anyone look at routes and existing chargers and not see that there are zero fast chargers on 48? I’ve had to drive around the state a few times and I keep hoping someone will see the problem.

Having said that, I love the Rivian charging network. Always works and the automatic payment is wonderful.
