The Rivian Roamer R2 Tracker now lists 11491 as the highest R2 VIN seen so far. A reader also emailed me this morning with a VIN in the 101XX range. I haven’t verified either myself.
At the end of August, the highest reported VIN was in the 9400s. That’s about 2,000 in under two weeks, faster than the roughly 115 a day we’d been tracking.
If you’re waiting on an R2, the tracker is worth bookmarking. Owners link their orders and vehicles, and it follows each one from order to delivery, with more than 700 R2s on it so far and data refreshed every 15 minutes. It only counts what owners add, so Rivian has built well more than what shows up there.
A VIN of 11491 doesn’t mean Rivian has built or assigned 11,000 R2s. VINs aren’t handed out in order, and plenty of owners who ordered weeks ago are still waiting while others get one within hours.

Rivian’s 2026 delivery guidance is 65,000 to 70,000 vehicles, raised in July and reaffirmed on the Q2 earnings call. With about 22,500 delivered through June, that leaves 42,000 to 47,000 for the second half, and the R2 has to carry most of it.
Rivian also plans to add a second shift in Normal by the end of Q3. If that happens on time, I’d expect VINs to climb even faster, and the Q3 delivery report in early October will show whether handovers are keeping up.

The first Borealis units have been spotted on the assembly line per numerous sources today.
I need to get my finances in order.
Yes, RJ posted it on Instagram yesterday!
It’ll be cool to see them out in the world. I probably would have picked Borealis instead of Catalina Cove had it been available to me when I placed my order.
…aw, who am I kidding. Everyone is just gonna buy gray, white, and black like they always do. Bo-ring.
It’s why Borealis was pulled from the R1 series, not enough were sold.
Wonder why they think they could sell a lot of Borealis R2 then? Use popular color choices if you want to sell cars. My wife has a hard hold on her R2 until they start making the R2 with the rivian blue, storm blue, or something similar. For $60,000 she wants a good color.
I was assigned a VIN in the 87XX range two days after that story about VIN 9400 ran. Delivery date is 9/22. 🙌🏻
It’s gotta be a stressful time to work at a Rivian service and delivery center. I don’t envy them the monumental task ahead of them. But, hey, at least there is job security.
i place my order 1 Sep 2026 for Esker, 20 AT with the coastal cloud atill no vin assigned. let you know i hope by next week.
