2025 Model Year R1S Testing

2025 Rivian R1T/R1S Leaked Certification: Enhanced Efficiency and New Features

The Application for Certification for the 2025 Model Year Rivian R1T and R1S has leaked.

Here’s what I’ve gathered from reading the document relating to the upcoming R1 refresh:

  • 21″ wheels are not mentioned, most likely retired
  • Standard battery pack is now LFP (lithium iron phosphate)
  • New 22″ aero wheels are being introduced
  • A new base trim was mentioned
  • Heat pump confirmed
  • Relocated compressor reduced noise, vibration, and harshness
  • CCS inlet confirmed (no NACS port at this time)
  • Increased efficiency
  • Fast charging 210 kW (standard LFP battery)

Additionally, Rivian is running these tests with a new 20″ tire size. The current tire size is 275/65R20 but the new one seems to be 275/60R20 which means the wheel 33″ instead of the current 34″. This should definitely help with efficiency.
