The Application for Certification for the 2025 Model Year Rivian R1T and R1S has leaked.
Here’s what I’ve gathered from reading the document relating to the upcoming R1 refresh:
- 21″ wheels are not mentioned, most likely retired
- Standard battery pack is now LFP (lithium iron phosphate)
- New 22″ aero wheels are being introduced
- A new base trim was mentioned
- Heat pump confirmed
- Relocated compressor reduced noise, vibration, and harshness
- CCS inlet confirmed (no NACS port at this time)
- Increased efficiency
- Fast charging 210 kW (standard LFP battery)
Additionally, Rivian is running these tests with a new 20″ tire size. The current tire size is 275/65R20 but the new one seems to be 275/60R20 which means the wheel 33″ instead of the current 34″. This should definitely help with efficiency.
