2027 Rivian R1S With Captain’s Chairs Arrives at Service Centers

The first 2027 R1S builds with second row captain’s chairs have started arriving at service centers and spaces as customer deliveries and demo units.

The two chairs sit on individual bases with a center pass through between them. The opening is wide enough to walk through to the third row without moving either seat, and it stays clear with a car seat installed on one side.

Each chair has an armrest that folds up and sits flush against the seat back when it is not in use. The padding and stitching match the rest of the seat.

The cup holder is on the inboard edge of the seat base. Pressing the panel releases it, and it drops open to two positions with the hinged door forming the floor of the tray. It closes flush into the seat side and does not extend into the pass through when open.

The rest matches what Rivian detailed at announcement. Both chairs are heated, fold flat, and retain full car seat tie downs from the bench.

Pricing depends on trim. On R1S Performance and Quad the chairs are $1,500 with Black Mountain Signature, $4,000 with Ocean Coast Signature, and $4,500 with Slate Sky Signature, and the latter two interiors are only offered in the captain’s chairs configuration. On R1S Premium and Premium Long Range the chairs require the Sound and Vision package, which brings the total to $4,000 with Black Mountain or $6,000 with Ocean Coast. The bench remains standard across the lineup.
