2023 Rivian R1T Involved in Fatal Mt. Lemmon Accident

A fatal accident involving a 2023 Rivian R1T occurred on November 8 along North General Hitchcock Highway, near milepost 9, on the road leading up to Mt. Lemmon in Arizona.

According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, the vehicle broke through a guardrail and plunged down a steep embankment. The driver, identified as 24-year-old Orion Sherry, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary reports suggest the Rivian was being driven recklessly before the accident, though an investigation into the crash is still ongoing.

This marks a tragic incident involving one of Rivian’s electric pickups, a model known for its advanced safety features. Further updates from the investigation are pending.
