Chief Reddit Officer of Rivian, Wassym Bensaid, took to the Reddit comments section today and answered owners’ questions about the October Halloween mode and Knight Rider theme unveiled yesterday.
Gen 1 Won’t Get Knight Rider Lightbar Effect
Sorry folks, Wassym confirmed that the Knight Rider lightbar effect won’t be coming to Gen 1 vehicles since the lightbar can only show white and green colors. I swore this lightbar was RGB but unlike the Gen 2 which offers a full spectrum of colors, Gen 1 owners are out of luck.
Yup, that was indeed The Hoff!
Wassym confirmed that the person we saw in the teaser yesterday was actor David Hasselhoff who portrayed Michael Knight in the series Knight Rider alongside K.I.T.T.

Rivian always watches social media, blogs, forums, and communities for features and easter eggs inspiration. Wassym says the team took inspiration from comments made in previous years on Reddit for the Knight Rider theme.
Knight Rider year-round?
Wassym wouldn’t say if the Knight Rider theme is here to stay or if it’s just for the Halloween but he did hint at the possibility of keeping it around year-round after some users on Reddit asked.
There’s more to Knight Rider than the lightbar.
Wassym wouldn’t go as far to confirm this but hinted at the fact that the Knight Rider theme will feature much more than the K.I.T.T. lightbar (especially for Gen 2 vehicles) and might even include some fun content in the driver’s display.
