Wassym Answers Gen 1 Software Questions

Wassym Bensaid, the Chief Software Officer at Rivian, has been a rockstar answering questions from owners. Here’s a few he recently answered on the Rivian Subreddit:

Launch Mode

Still unknown if Gen 1 will get “Launch Mode” but it’s being considered.

Unlocking the Vehicle

Unlocking the vehicle with your iPhone (via Apple Wallet) or Apple Watch will be exclusive to Gen 2 because it requires special hardware.

Ambient Lighting

Ambient lighting is confirmed for Gen 1 but it won’t feature as many granular color options.

Driver+

Driver+ will continue to be improved but will be limited due to hardware on Gen 1 vehicles.
