Top Highlights from ALSO’s TM-B Reddit AMA with Product Lead Saul Leiken

Saul Leiken, Lead for Product Management at ALSO, jumped on Reddit for a quick AMA and shared some great details about the TM-B e-bike. Here’s what we learned.

When asked about the “pedal forever” mode for when the battery hits 0%, Saul said the TM-B’s DreamRide system lets you still pedal and move forward, even without electric assist. It won’t boost you, but it’s better than walking home.

For those wondering about keeping the bike connected while charging the main battery elsewhere, Saul confirmed there’s a small reserve battery built into the downtube. It can power LTE and security features for up to two weeks, using the same type of battery cells found in Rivian’s R1 vehicles.

Test rides are coming too. ALSO plans to offer them at several Rivian showrooms, including Venice, California. If you’re on their email list, you’ll be first to know when bikes arrive for demos.

Trail Mode was another topic. Right now, it’s only available with the All Terrain package, but Saul said he’s taking feedback to the team for riders who might swap in their own off-road tires. ALSO also plans to add the manual “transmission-style” mode to more ride settings in the future.

As for accessories, the Alpha Wave helmet will launch alongside the TM-B, with pricing details coming soon.

Finally, Saul confirmed that the TM-B is built tough. It’s rated IP66 when fully assembled, meaning it’s highly resistant to dust and water, and IP65 when parts like the battery or top frame are removed.
