Rivian Retrofits Augusta Charger to Support All EVs

The Rivian Adventure Network site in Augusta, GA just got a pretty cool upgrade. It originally opened in April 2023 as a Rivian-only location, but now it’s been updated with Rivian’s new V1.5 chargers, which means any electric vehicle can plug in—not just Rivians.

That makes Augusta one of the first existing Rivian sites to get this kind of upgrade. Until now, every V1.5 charger open to all EVs was part of a brand-new site. So this is a pretty big shift. Rivian started opening up its network to other EVs in 2024, starting with the Joshua Tree location, but that one was built from scratch with that in mind. Augusta, on the other hand, was retrofitted.

These new chargers support CCS, so Teslas (with an adapter), Fords, Hyundais—basically everyone—can now use this site. Rivians still get the usual perks like plug-and-charge and app integration, but it’s great to see the network becoming more accessible.

If you’re driving through Augusta in anything electric, this spot is now open to you but at a cost. It’s a small move, but it shows Rivian’s serious about expanding access, not just adding new stations. Hopefully it’s the first of many.

  1. Perfect timing with the Masters Tournament starting April 7th. I bet they are hoping to catch so of those coming and going from the golf event.
