Rivian Reaffirms Commitment To Georgia Plant

Rivian has reaffirmed its commitment to building an EV manufacturing plant in the State of Georgia.

Upon unveiling the R2 in March, Rivian announced it would provide the vehicle in its Normal, IL factory, saving Rivian over $2.25 billion, helping Rivian turn a profit, and delivering the R2 much faster.

The State of Georgia sent Rivian a letter in late March stating that “this change in plans will require Rivian to prompt address issues” such as site conditions and safety. Rivian replied and reaffirmed its commitment to the new plant in Georgia. Rivian’s overall goal is to use the pause to prepare to go vertical when the pause is lifted.
