Rivian R2 Reservation Page Now Shows Your Order Invite Window

Rivian just made the R2 reservation page a lot more helpful. If you’ve put down a deposit and have a reservation, you can now log in to your Rivian.com account and actually see an estimated window for when you’ll get your invite to order. It depends on the configuration you want and about where you are in line.

My friend Mark sent me a screenshot of his page. He put in his reservation on March 7, 2024, but skipped the launch edition because he’s holding out for the non-Launch Edition Performance version. Now, his account says he should get an invite to order sometime between December 2026 and February 2027. Of course, there’s a little asterisk, since these are just estimates and Rivian says those dates could change.

Until now, everyone with a reservation was pretty much in the dark. You’d put your money down, hang out on social media, and wait for an email, never really sure where you stood. Now, seeing a real window on your account page actually gives you a ballpark idea of when your turn might come up. It’s not a delivery date or a guarantee, but it’s the first time people have had even a rough sense of timing.

The configuration part is what really matters here. Since Mark passed on the launch edition, his invite window got pushed back. That lines up with how Rivian is prioritizing those first builds. The trim and options you pick will change your date too, but now you can actually see how your choices affect your spot, instead of just guessing.

One thing this doesn’t tell you is how long you’ll wait between getting your invite, actually placing your order, and finally getting your car. That’s still up in the air. Rivian is ramping up R2 production and cars are starting to roll out, so hopefully that wait won’t be too long. For now, at least you have a number for the first part of the wait. That’s more than anyone had before.

  1. I just got my estimate as well: I placed my reservation on April 1, 2026 and my estimated order window is November/December 2026. I do intend to get the Performance launch edition and I live in Raleigh NC.

  2. My window says “You’ll be invited to order in August–September 2026”. A little disappointing considering I made my reservation on day 1 within the first hour.

    • Rivian got 68,000 reservations in the first 24 hours. Probably half of those in the first hour. What’d you people expect, exactly?

  3. My Reservation was 1/25/25 I am interested in the Performance Launch Edition, live in CA, no lease, my estimate is September-October 2026. I can live with that. Can’t wait!

  4. Day 1 reservation holder here from the Charleston, SC area. Mine is showing a 4–8 week window for the Launch Edition Performance.

  5. Day 1 reservation wanting launch edition but with Coastal Cloud interior. My window is Aug/Sept 2026. Exactly what I was hoping for.

  6. I’m a June 24 reservation holder, I want the launch edition, and I can’t order until October – November… which I guess is ok since they can’t build them that fast?

  7. My order window is August/September. Do you think Coastal Cloud will be available with launch package? Or is launch package going to be exclusively Black Crater?

      • And that is really the big question isn’t it. If the premium trim isn’t available until the end of the year, and the next gen of autonomy hardware (RAP1 as well as LIDAR) is coming out end of this year / very early next (I’ve seen Rivian people say ‘late 26’, but a number of YouTubers say early 2027), then unless you really need a new car, I don’t see why anybody would buy anything other than an LE until the next gen hardware drops. With the LE you get extra value, but with anything else you could buy a car one day before the new hardware drops for likely the same exact price. If you get a chance to talk to anybody at Rivian about this, understanding the strategy here would go a LONG way toward providing clarity for most people ordering timeline.

      • And how Rivian figures out the how/when to start including LIDAR confounds my logistical brain. At some point they’ll draw a line that “comes with gen3/doesn’t”. How they’ll manage that without po’ing a certain percentage of recent buyers who knows? I know that Rivian knows the Gen3 delay was not optimal… if LIDAR becomes available at no additional cost, does it just start showing up on builds? If it is, say, another $1,000 – do I get notified to say yes/no and does saying yes change my order window? There’s no “great” solution here.

    • Someone asked Rivian AI and it said any R2 that ships from October on will be the gen 3 RAP1 with LiDAR version.

Finger’s crossed that wasn’t an AI hallucination!

  8. I received a follow up email stating those still interested in the LE will still be able to get it (at least in the September/October order window).

    Hi William,

We’re excited to let you know you can expect to receive your R2 order invite in September–October 2026 for your Order # 2xxxxxx. Once you place your order and receive confirmation, you can expect to take delivery within 4-8 weeks for most configurations. R2 Performance with Launch Package will remain available for you until it’s your time to order.

Your timing window is based on a variety of factors to give you the most accurate estimate possible, including production schedules, your delivery location and vehicle preferences you selected. Should anything change, we’ll let you know so you can best plan for delivery.

Your R2 is almost here. We can’t wait to see where you’ll take it.

    • I got a similar email, but with a December to February window. Also says they’ll keep launch package available until then.

  9. I had three reservations within the first few minutes on opening day (my wife and two kids are desperately in need of new cars). Only one of those is 4 to 8 weeks out. The other two are December to February. I guess this is their way of limiting how many launch editions a customer gets.

    • Same thing. 2nd order delayed until Dec-Feb. Although it seems to say Launch Package will remain available in the email that showed both orders so potentially you can get more than one Launch Package but they are only giving priority order/delivery windows on the first order?

“Thank you for placing multiple R2 reservations. You can expect your order invites as follows:
      Order # XXX1: in August–September 2026
      Order # XXX2: in December 2026–February 2027
Once you place your order and receive confirmation, you can expect to take delivery within 4-8 weeks for most configurations. R2 Performance with Launch Package will remain available for you until it’s your time to order.

Your timing window is based on a variety of factors to give you the most accurate estimate possible, including production schedules, your delivery location and the vehicle preferences you selected. Should this timing change, we’ll let you know so you can best plan for delivery.”

  10. Day 1 reservation on San Diego, just got September-October window. Don’t currently own a rivian and don’t have a lease

  11. I said Not Really to launch edition and No to lease, day 2 reservation holder, not an R1 owner, and within 20 miles of both a service and delivery center and my estimate is now December 2026 – Feb 2027. My preference is Premium trim so that seems to line up perfectly with their previous estimates 🙂

  12. Reserved in February 2026, estimated for September/October 2026, selected Performance Edition specifically so I can get it sooner

  13. I’m a day 2 reservation holder in CA, within 20 miles of a service center. Not an R1 owner. Said I was interested in performance LE, but my original preference was to wait for premium trim with coastal cloud interior & lidar. My window is Sept-Oct. Didn’t expect it would be this early. Now I have to decide if I want to wait for lidar or not. 🤔

  14. Day 1 reservation, my estimate was September/October, which is fine by me since they’re opening a Service Center in my town later this summer, and I wouldn’t want it before that anyways. Can’t wait!

  15. Got my reservation windows today October thru November I resered mines 1st week in May 2024

  16. Day 1 reservation, was a previous original Launch Edition R1T owner then on a 2 year R1S lease which I turned in the end of January. Surprisingly I got the email today that I can place my order now. I’m trying to get out of the lease of my current car, so I will most likely go with the Coastal Cloud interior which will push my order out a bit. (Hopefully giving me time to get out of my current lease [Non-Rivian]).

  17. I know there’s many factors to these estimates, but they’ve officially jumped the shark for me. Reserved March 11, 2024 and was given the Dec 2026 – Feb 2027 window. I live seven miles from a service center in a major metro area with no expiring lease. Performance buyer from the get go. There’s half a dozen people here commenting already with reservation dates a year or later than me and are reporting Sept – Nov 2026. Absolutely no point in not waiting for the Lidar and new chip stack now. Reservation feeling pointless.

  18. Reservation made 9/26/25
    Invite for Aug-Sept 26 (launch)
    Current R1 owner, no lease
Seeing that those with later invite dates but requesting launch package are being told that it will still be available to them, I’m wondering if I delay purchase for a few months until Feb will that be honored for me as well, or is that only if your invite period is later…

  19. At least now the Borealis/cloud combo seems like it will be available by the time of my invite on launch package, so that’s a plus

  20. I reserved mine on April 10, 2026. I didn’t indicated the Launch Edition until after I test drove the R2 on June 10th. I immediately switched to Launch Edition. June 30th I got the good news. November to December, with four to eight weeks delivery after the order. Not a Rivian owner (Subaru Crosstrek PHEV), so no lease, and I’m in Carlsbad, CA – half way between two service centers within 15 miles. (Sadly no Adventure Network stations south of Oragne County except singles at service centers.)

Our daughter-in-law put in a reservation on day-one for the Launch Edition and she got a September to October order window.

I’m so excited, I already have my tow hook front license plate holder ready to go!
