Got a 3D Printer? The Rivian Community Has Some Great R2 Projects for You

If you’ve got a 3D printer and an R2, some very talented people in the Rivian community have already done the design work for you, and there’s a growing list of free models that fill in the little gaps owners have been noticing since deliveries started.

Here are a few that caught my eye.

Dustin’s R2 Rear Driver Cubby NACS Adapter Holder gives your NACS adapter a proper home in the rear cargo cubby, so it’s not rattling around back there every time you take a corner.

Todd’s Customizable Console Organizer lets you tailor the layout to whatever you actually keep in your console, and he’s got an R1 version too if you’re like me and have one of each in the driveway.

delltrain’s R2 Center Console Insert is another take on taming that center console space, and it’s worth looking at alongside Todd’s to see which layout fits the way you use it.

gcajr designed an R2 USB-C Enclosure Holder for keeping a USB-C enclosure tidy and secured in the cabin.

Ying’s R2 Front Plate Tow Hook Adapter mounts your front plate using the tow hook point, which is a nice option if you live in a front plate state and don’t love the idea of drilling into your new R2.

These are just a handful, too. If you search for Rivian R1 or R2 on Printables and MakerWorld, you’ll find plenty more.

Don’t have a printer? Friend of the site OpenSource EV already sells a bunch of 3D printed Rivian goodies and is launching 12 new R2 accessories this Tuesday, September 22. Niftly3D also has an R2 Sliding Organizer Tray on Etsy, and searching Rivian R1 or R2 over there turns up a whole lot more.

What I love about this is how fast it happens. R2 has barely been in owners’ hands and the community is already solving the small annoyances before most of us even notice them. If you’ve designed something for your Rivian, send it my way and I’ll happily add it to the list for you all.
