One of the 10 R1S Quad Miami Editions Rivian built is up for auction on Cars & Bids right now, and as I’m writing this the bid sits at $70,500 after 8 bids.
That’s a tough number to look at when you remember this SUV was priced at $134,990 when Rivian opened purchase requests last December.
The owner says it’s unmodified, it has 8,300 miles on it, and it’s located in North Carolina. It’s the same Glacier White with aqua and pink accents, 22-inch Miami Edition wheels, and Ocean Coast and Driftwood interior that made the Miami Edition stand out, all on top of the 1,025 horsepower quad-motor drivetrain.
The auction has a reserve and ends October 2, so if bidding doesn’t hit the owner’s number, it won’t sell.
It’s hard to value something this rare, but regular R1S auctions on Cars & Bids have recently landed somewhere around $75,000 to $85,000. I don’t expect this one to get anywhere near its original price, so the owner is taking a hit no matter how it ends, and I think the Miami Edition badge adds a bit on top of that range but not much.
