R2 Deliveries Have Started and Rivian Just Blew Past Its Q2 Guidance

Rivian delivered 12,194 vehicles in Q2 2026, well above its own guidance of 9,000 to 11,000. The Normal plant cranked out 12,613 vehicles. But the real headline: R2 deliveries have officially started, and that’s what sent the numbers soaring past expectations.
Rivian says it’s thanks to steady growth in both EDV and R1 sales, plus those first R2 handoffs. It wasn’t just one thing propping up the quarter: the commercial van business stayed busy, R1 demand held steady, and R2 showed up earlier than most folks thought, considering all the chatter about the timeline.
Off the back of all this, Rivian bumped up its full-year 2026 delivery guidance. Instead of aiming for 62,000 to 67,000 vehicles, they’re now targeting 65,000 to 70,000. A 3,000-vehicle boost on both ends isn’t small potatoes; it shows Rivian’s confident enough in the second half to make it official, instead of playing it safe.
The rest of the story comes July 30, when Rivian reports full Q2 financials after markets close. There’ll be a webcast at 5:00 p.m. ET. Of course, deliveries are only half the picture: margins, the cost of ramping up R2, and what they say about the second half will really show whether Rivian can keep this up.
