Rivian Plans Full Expansion of Referral Points, Starting With Wheels and Tires

Rivian confirmed to us today that referral point owners can now use their points toward wheel and tire sets, spare tires, and even the wireless charger. This is a big shift because until now, those items were excluded from the referral rewards program. Rivian also told us that the ultimate goal is to allow points to be applied toward all products and services in the future, which would make the program far more useful.

The Rivian referral program has been one of the most talked-about perks for owners, and for good reason. Who doesn’t love scoring points for convincing a friend to join the adventure? But let’s be honest, Rivian hasn’t always nailed the execution. Earlier this year, they made some unpopular changes, like lowering the point values once you reached higher referral counts, which left a bad taste for many of us who have been in the program since the beginning.

Today though, Rivian actually gave us a win. Referral point owners can now redeem points on wheel and tire sets, spare tires, and even the wireless charger. Previously, none of those items were eligible for points redemption, which was frustrating because they’re some of the most useful (and expensive) accessories Rivian sells.

There’s still a catch, you can’t just log into the Gear Shop and click “redeem.” You have to call Rivian directly to place your order and apply your points. It’s not as seamless as it should be, but it’s a step in the right direction.
