Starting today, Rivian has made the Tesla NACS (North American Charging Standard) adapter available for purchase at select service centers that also offer Rivian gear. Priced at $225, this adapter is perfect for Rivian owners who need an extra or want to get their hands on it faster.
While this new option allows for immediate purchase, Rivian is still honoring its previous promise: every new Rivian owner will receive a free NACS adapter by mail before January 31, 2025. If you’re waiting on your free adapter, it’s important to note that you cannot pick one up at a service center—only purchase one. The free units will be shipped directly to your address.
For those who need more flexibility or want an extra adapter for convenience, this is a great way to ensure seamless charging with Tesla’s widely available Supercharger network.
But customers who were waiting still have a 3+ month wait? It’s clear rivian isn’t trying to be any better than Tesla at customer service.
I too find ridiculous that Rivian has not yet fulfilled their commitment to provide the NACS adaptor to current owners like me. If you have enough to sell to the general public, you should have enough to fulfill your commitment to your loyal owners. What a shame
