Rivian Fixes Rewards Program, Adds Lifetime Perks and Free RAN Charging

Rivian has officially rolled out a major update to its Rewards program, and this one actually feels like a course correction.

Owner Rewards are now a flat 250 points per referral, removing the messy tiered structure and confusing reward caps from before. Each referral also includes three months of free Rivian Adventure Network (RAN) charging, which makes its long-awaited return after being quietly removed back in March. The only exception is California, where state law limits owners to 25 qualifying referrals per year.

tl;dr

  • 250 points and 3 months free RAN per referral; buyers now earn points by trim
  • No more diminishing rewards; California owners capped at 25 referrals
  • Lifetime perks: 10 = keepsake, 25 = exclusive experience
  • Begins Rivian’s new loyalty framework with more perks coming

On the buyer side, Rivian has introduced a new tiered points system based on vehicle trim:

  • Dual Standard buyers earn 100 points
  • Dual Large buyers earn 250 points
  • Tri and Quad Motor buyers earn 500 points

Each of those tiers also comes with three months of free RAN charging.

Another notable addition is the introduction of lifetime rewards, which recognize long-term advocates. At 10 referrals, owners will receive a Rivian keepsake, retroactively applied and set to be delivered early next year. At 25 referrals, owners unlock a one-time experience, something like Camp Rivian, shaped directly by attendee feedback.

This marks the start of what Rivian calls its broader loyalty framework, with more milestones and ways to earn points planned for the future.

This update comes after Rivian’s controversial June overhaul that made things worse by giving loyal owners fewer points the more referrals they made. At the time, it felt like a slap in the face to those who had been championing the brand since day one. You can read more about that here.

While the new system isn’t perfect, it’s a clear sign Rivian is listening. By simplifying the structure, bringing back free charging, and adding lifetime perks, Rivian’s Rewards program finally feels like it’s evolving into something meaningful for owners and new buyers alike.
