Rivian Fixes Random Privacy Toggling in Latest R1 Hotfix

Quick heads-up for R1 owners, the 2026.15.01 (Gen 1 R1) and 2026.15.30 (Gen 2 R1) hotfix is out, and Rivian patched something a little odd with it. Some privacy settings had been toggling on and off on their own. Location, the Autonomy stuff. The settings you set once and forget about.

Rivian is calling it rare but I know that both my vehicles were impacted alongside many across different social platforms. Rare or not, these are not the settings you want changing randomly. After you update, go back into your privacy menu and make sure everything reads the way you left it.

Anyway, grab it when you get the chance and just give the privacy screen a once-over afterward plus the improvements made to Rivian Assistant.

  1. Yeah, strangely that happened to me just today. Tried to engage UHF, which I’d been using for months, and it said the privacy settings didn’t allow it. Got that changed, and it worked again. UHF had just been working the day before, so no obvious reason it changed.

  2. Happened to me too. Rivian Roamer sent me an email letting me know that my location wasn’t reporting & to check the settings.

  3. I just installed the 2026.15.30 hotfix, and these were the settings I had to reenable:
    1) Precise Location — this was prompted once hotfix installed
    2) Gear Guard — Road Cam (had to do the suggested system reset first); this is frustrating that I need to reenable every OTA update
    3) Autonomy — Lane Change Warning
I am not believing these are “rare” issues…
