Sometimes I notice the little things that others would never notice and I’m not sure if that’s a good thing… but while visiting Rivian.com, as I do multiple times a day, I noticed a few changes to the R1 configurator and what options come with what vehicle. Let’s take a look at just some minor changes that might be impactful to future owners.
tl;dr
- Dark mats discontinued
- Tri-Motor only comes with Plaid mats now
- Dual-Motor Standard no longer has the option to upgrade to Darkout package
- Tri-Motor comes standard with Darkout package, no more Bright package
Floor Mats
Rivian has simplified the selection of floor mats for R1 vehicles. Previously, Rivian offered Dark mats as included for all Dual-Motor variants but has now eliminated them and will now offer the Chilewich mats as standard (previously a $200 upgrade).
Tri-Motor now only offers the Plaid mats, previously you could opt for Dark mats at no cost but from this, it seems Rivian has completely discontinued the Dark mats.
Accents and Badging
Dual Standard vehicles now only have the option for the Bright package and can no longer upgrade to the Darkout package, which was previously $1,000. Dual Large and Dual Max vehicles still have the option to get the Darkout package for $1,000.
Tri-Motor vehicles now only offer the Darkout package standard and can no longer opt for the Bright package.
