Rivian Care Launches Pilot Program in Texas
Rivian is quietly rolling out a new protection plan pilot for owners in Texas, and it’s called Rivian Care. It’s a pair of optional products meant to extend peace of mind beyond the standard factory warranty—and it’s all powered by Assurant, a well-known name in vehicle protection services.
There are two separate plans under Rivian Care, and you can pick one or both depending on what you want covered.
The first is a Vehicle Service Contract, which kicks in after your standard Rivian warranty ends. It helps cover major components like the high-voltage battery, drivetrain, mechanical systems, and safety equipment. It even includes coverage for certain wear-and-tear items from the start of your plan, which is a nice bonus. Think of it like an extended warranty, but with a bit more flexibility built in.
The second option is called Preferred Vehicle Protection, which handles some of the more common (but still annoying) issues like windshield damage, tire and wheel repairs, and paintless dent removal. These aren’t typically covered under Rivian’s standard warranty, so this could be a handy add-on for daily drivers.
One key thing to note—Rivian recommends buying this coverage before your vehicle’s warranty expires. It’s cheaper that way, and you’re covered sooner.
For now, Rivian Care is only being offered to select owners in Texas as part of a pilot program, but if the launch goes well, there’s a good chance it’ll expand to more states soon.
