Rivian Adventure Network Ranks Third in JD Power 2026 Study

In the JD Power 2026 survey relating to public charging, Rivian’s Adventure Network came in third place, after IONNA and Mercedes-Benz.

The results show IONNA with 807 points, Mercedes-Benz Charging Network at 797, and Rivian at 755. These were the only three DC fast-charging networks that were eligible for an award this year. The networks operated by the original equipment manufacturers are overtaking the older ones, mainly because they get the basic things right, such as the charger working when you arrive at it.

I’d like to include my own note since I’ve used all 3 of these on both the R1 and the R2, and each one has been a truly excellent plug-and-charge experience. Sessions start on the first attempt and they tend to always be at a safe and clean location.

The proportion of drivers who arrive at a charging station only to find it doesn’t work has dropped to 12%, the lowest figure that JD Power has ever recorded, compared with 14% the previous year. And anyone who has driven an EV on a long trip knows a dead stall is worse than a slow one.

Third appears to be about right for RAN in theory, and the sites have been thought out sufficiently that you don’t end up having to charge in the back corner of a Walmart parking lot. Rivian still doesn’t have anywhere near the level of coverage that the older networks have, so there is room for improvement and growth.
