Joshua Tree Confirmed as First Rivian Adventure Network Site to Support All EVs

It’s official: Rivian has confirmed that the Joshua Tree Adventure Network site will be the first in its growing network to allow charging for all EVs, not just Rivians. This announcement makes the new site, which opened today, a significant milestone in Rivian’s journey to expand access and support the broader EV community.

A Big Step for Rivian’s Adventure Network

From the start, the Joshua Tree site stood out. It’s the largest Rivian Adventure Network location, with 12 chargers featuring new “v1.5” dispensers. These upgraded chargers come with longer cables, taller units, and payment terminals—all designed to make charging accessible and convenient for a wider range of EVs.

For non-Rivian drivers, the cost to charge will be $0.60/kWh, while Rivian owners continue to enjoy the lower $0.45/kWh rate. This marks the first time Rivian has officially opened its exclusive charging network to other EV brands, making Joshua Tree a pivotal site in the network’s evolution.

Why Joshua Tree?

Joshua Tree is a prime location for an adventure-focused charging network. The area attracts road trippers and adventurers of all types, making it an ideal spot to test Rivian’s expanded network access. With its new hardware and ample space, this site is well-equipped to handle the increased demand that comes with opening up to non-Rivian vehicles.

More to Come

While the chargers are operational, the rest of the site is still under construction. Rivian plans to add amenities like merchandise, snacks, and restrooms, turning Joshua Tree into a full-fledged outpost for EV travelers.

This confirmation is exciting not just for Rivian owners but for the entire EV community. Rivian’s decision to open the Adventure Network to other brands at this location signals a broader shift toward collaboration and inclusivity in the EV space.

For now, if you’re near Joshua Tree and driving any EV, you’ve got a new charging option—and a front-row seat to the future of Rivian’s Adventure Network. Let us know your thoughts and experiences as this site starts serving all adventurers, Rivian or not!
