How Rivian’s R2 Body Harness Outshines the R1 Gen 2

Rivian’s CEO RJ Scaringe recently shared an image showcasing a side-by-side comparison of the body harnesses used in the R1 Gen 2 and the upcoming Rivian R2. This comparison highlights a major step forward in Rivian’s approach to vehicle design and manufacturing.

The R2 body harness is a massive improvement over the R1 Gen 2, thanks to Rivian’s network architecture and zonal ECUs. These enhancements focus on simplifying installation and reducing complexity in the factory. According to RJ, the R2 harness features fewer wires, fewer clips, and significantly fewer splices. This not only makes assembly easier and faster but also reduces potential points of failure, leading to a more reliable and efficient vehicle.

By optimizing the body harness design, Rivian is pushing towards greater manufacturing efficiency and reliability, which will ultimately benefit R2 owners with a more robust and refined electric vehicle.
