How My Rivian Became More Than Just a Truck

Three years ago today, I took delivery of my first Rivian R1T. It was a moment I had been waiting for, a milestone that felt surreal, but I had no idea how much that moment would actually change my life.

It may seem dramatic to say a car changed my life, but in this case, it’s true. Back then, I was trading in our 2020 Tesla Model Y for this brand-new all-electric adventure truck. I had a mix of excitement and nervousness as the Rivian rolled up to my house. It was a Gen 1 R1T—Rivian’s first real step into the world, and now, looking back, it was the start of a new chapter for me too.

That day wasn’t just about a new vehicle. It was the beginning of something I never expected—RivianTrackr. What started as a place to share my thoughts on this new EV quickly grew into a community of people just like me—curious, passionate, and excited about the world of electric vehicles.

Over these past three years, I’ve had the chance to explore, create, and connect with so many of you. I’ve learned more than I ever imagined, from off-road adventures to software updates, to meeting fellow owners who have become friends. RivianTrackr became a place where I could share all of it, and it’s been one of the best experiences of my life.

Last year, I traded in my Gen 1 R1T for a Gen 2 model. While I absolutely love the Gen 2, I still miss my original truck—the one that started it all. I’ll never forget the adventures it took me on and the memories it helped create.

So here I am, three years later, sharing this with you. Whether you’ve been here from the beginning or just discovered RivianTrackr, thank you. It’s because of you—reading, watching, engaging—that I get to do something I genuinely love.

Looking at the photos from that delivery day feels like stepping back in time. I see the excitement, the curiosity, and a little bit of the unknown. It was just a car delivery, but in so many ways, it was so much more.
